Gaz did his first season in Banff, Canada becoming the first English snowboard instructor to be employed by Ski Big 3, one of Canada’s most established snowboarding schools. He then went onto work in New Zealand for 2 years where he began to enjoy competing in freestyle events, achieving 14th place in the New Zealand Forum Young Blood Open and Cadbury Moro Slope Style Series. Gaz has now been working with Sunshine World in Zakopane for the last 2 years and is enjoying his time back in Europe teaching and promoting snowboarding. He recently snowboarded at a freestyle demonstration event in his hometown of Hull. Away from the snow he enjoys travelling, playing sport and his guitar, which he carries alongside his snowboard wherever he goes. Gaz would love to make a career out of snowboarding and is currently working hard to keep the dream alive.

Probably from when I was as young as 8 or 9 years old I knew that there was nothing in the world that I loved doing more than skiing (I only started snowboarding aged 10- which I now love equally) and it fills me with joy to be able to dedicate all of my time now to helping as many people as possible to explore the sports which have brought me so many happy memories through the years. I have now been professionally qualified and actively teaching for over 7 years, first gaining status as a snowboard instructor when I was 15 in Canada.

I have had the privilege of learning and the greater privilege of teaching skiing and snowboarding in resorts around the world including, Whistler, Canada, Courchevel, Meribel and Megeve, France, Zermatt, Switzerland, Madonna Di Campiglio and Cervinia, Italy, Soldeu, Andorra, Jasna, Slovakia and of course Zakopane, Poland among many other beautiful places.

I’m also a passionate tennis coach and learned a lot coaching tennis for Club Med in Tunisia in a resort that catered for up to 1,400 guests per week.

I started Sunshine World in 2005 with a view to creating and continually improving “tools” to help as many people as possible enjoy as many wonderful moments as possible while we can. Our focus is on being able to offer such attentive customer service that we can customise our guests’ experiences to the most stringent demands and desires and I’m humbled by the kind support I have received from so many great people over the years!

I believe in honesty. I think that as long as people know what the deal is they are free to make their own decisions as to what is best for them.

I believe that everyone experiences pain, sadness and bad feelings during their lives. I think it’s impossible to create a world where pain NEVER happens- everyone dies after all. I also believe that there are MOMENTS in everybody’s lives which are indescribably wonderful- I’m sure you can remember a few right now of your own… Moments you wish would last forever! I believe moments like these, which can be something so simple, make life make sense to me. I believe there is so much beauty in the world alongside all the pain and suffering and I want to soak up every positive moment while they last!

That is my motivation for starting Sunshine World. I want to use the tools which in my experience make people (and myself) smile, laugh and feel great to help create wonderful moments in time. Not to make the world a perfect place, but to live and immerse ourselves in one place at one time in a truly exciting experience.

At Sunshine World it is my absolute mission to strive to the very best of my ability to provide YOU with the best holiday of your life. We may not be successful in that goal 100% of the time, but I WILL try and I’m sure we will succeed many times.

Elisabeth Signolet – Company Secretary

Born on 5th March 1959 in Versailles, France, Elisabeth came to England aged 20 to learn English and ultimately settle in a country which she fell in love with completely.

In 1986 she co-founded Delice de France, a small import and distribution business in Barnes, London, and over the next few years worked hard with her husband, Managing Director Philippe Signolet, to keep the little enterprise running. She worked night and day 7 days a week and raised four children at the same time! What she and Philippe managed to achieve over the following years is a true testament to what can be created through hard work, perseverance and an ethical, honest approach to business. She and Philippe completed the successful sale of the company in 1999 to Irish firm IAWS. At this time DDF employed over 450 people nationwide. Importing fresh bakery products from all over France and across Europe and supplying them to the whole of Great Britain and Ireland.

Elisabeth's experience and truly dedicated hard working nature is only surpassed by her unflagging and genuine loving spirit. She has campaigned for a long time with wonderful charities including Amnesty International, NSPCC, PETA, CHASE children's hospice, PLAN International, Friends of the Earth and The Medical Foundation.

I have known her all my life and I have never been more inspired by anyone as to how I should live my life. I believe her to be a particularly special individual and it is a great honour to have her in such an integral role at Sunshine World.
